In 1933, Annabhau Sathe started a grocery shop in the small village like Vile-Parle. It was named 'Vijay Stores'. Though the purchasing was small & it was more on a door to door basis, it gave a sort of stability to Bhau's life. In 1943 Bhau shouldered the responsibility of the entire shop on Anna. Under Bhau's able guidance Anna became expert in trade markets, learned all the secrets & though formal education was only upto inter commerce, he become a real commerce expert. Now Bhau was fully relieved.
'Vijay Stores' was like a loving son to Anna. He loved & nurtured with care all the day to day chores of the shop. During recession times, after the 2nd worldwar entire trading business slowed down but Anna did not loose courage with all the hard work & public relation, he reestablished entire merchandise.

'Vijay Stores' was never a mere grocery shop but it was a reliable source from where you could purchase many fresh food items like 'Chivada', 'Chakali', 'Laddo', 'Shrikhand', & Spices- freshly ground. During those days these items were never actually purchased but only 'home made' till vijay stores started making them. 'Vijay Stores' soon become a household name. Credit goes entirely to Snehalata, Anna's wife who painstakingly maintained high class standard & taste of all the fresh food items.
Eventually 'Vijay Stores' became a new status symbol in Vileparle's elite circle. A customer of Vijay Stores means a quality conscious purchaser. They never grumbled about high price because they were always getting value for money.

There is always something new happening in Vijay Stores It is the shop's culture to celebrate seasonal festivities. Anna smartly wove trade & culture together. So it is mango 'Panhe in summer, bitter 'Kadunimb's chutney on Gudhi Padwa & 'Ambadal' in Chaitra.
Vijay Stores fame is spread equally in all sections of society & that is not only because of the excellent quality but for the warmth & humanity Anna feels towards the customers of Vijay Stores.
